A rattled Staten Island landlord repeatedly contacted the cops about the nightmare on Bay St.: dope dealers, cigarette peddlers, public urination, threats of rape and assault. Then Eric Garner, a suspected seller of untaxed cigarettes, died in the midst of his July 17 arrest. A month later, things on the block are even more out of control. It has only gotten worse, much worse, since Eric died, the landlord told the Daily News ahead of Sundays one-month anniversary of Garners death. Now the police, they dont want to have another incident there so they have a hands-off approach, said the landlord, who asked not to be identified. Anyway you slice it, its a mess.

At some point a civil society has to rely on the virtue of the citizens and that is the part of the solution that leftists always leave out.

Although I feel bad for the decent people that live in this neighborhood, some of which probably didn’t vote for the socialists that run the city, I also can’t help but feel some good old schadenfreude.
This is what happens when you vote for a socialist welfare state.
