Whenever an unarmed person charges one who is armed, it is best to assume that there is an unknown leveraging factor. Shoot the perp until he drops.
Anybody who rushes at a cop who has his gun trained on them and shouting “Freeze”... Is going to be shot. And rightfully so. No one— cop or civilian— is required to first try to win a wrestling match for their gun. When an attacker knowingly charges an armed person it can be assumed that the stakes are for the weapon. It is a deadly threat.
