Random thoughts on the passing scene:
I don't know why we are spending our hard-earned money paying taxes to support a criminal justice system, when issues of guilt and innocence are being determined on television and even punishment is being meted out by CNN's showing the home and address of the policeman accused in the Ferguson, Missouri shooting.
One of the big differences between Democrats and Republicans is that we at least know what the Democrats stand for, whether we agree with it or not. But, for Republicans, we have to guess.
It is amazing how many otherwise sane people want Israel to become the first nation in history to respond to military attacks by restricting what they do, so that it is "proportionate" to the damage inflicted by the attacks.
Amid all the things being said on all sides about the massive, illegal influx of children from countries in Central America, we have yet to hear some American parent saying, "I don't owe it to anybody to have my child exposed to diseases brought into this country, no matter what problems exist in other countries!"
Two headlines in the August 10th New York Times speak volumes about Barack Obama. The top headline reads: "Iraq Strikes May Last Months, Obama Says." A secondary headline reads: "No Ground Force Will Be Sent, He Repeats." Time was when enemy spies had to risk their lives to acquire such information. Now all they have to do is read the headlines.
It is amazing how many people think they are doing blacks a favor by exempting them from standards that others are expected to meet.

Preach it, brother!
This guy has so much value to offer in almost any conversation. Too bad he’s too smart to run for office.
As a general rule, Thomas Sowell writes with clear and understandable rhetoric with a basis in truth and common sense. In this instance, I believe he has over-reached in his use of “accused” when referring to the police officer. The investigation is nowhere near complete and the officer has not been charged with anything so I think that statement is inaccurate and out of the norm for Dr. Sowell.
YES Can we trade Ø for Bibi?
Oh one can dream.....

Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark
Right on, Doc.

Yes, one lawyer says the officer murdered him but the lead lawyer says he assassinated him and his mother says he was murdered. I’d say they’re all accusing the officer.
The Israelis wouldn’t make the trade no matter what we threw in with it.
So a couple of shyster race baiters known for a loose acquaintance with any “facts” throw around some intemperate words and the officer stands “accused”? Sorry, that don’t feed the bulldog with me. I’m pretty sure Dr. Sowell would not want to even be in the same county with that pair, if using the word “accused” makes him some sort of partner to their style of lawyering.
Seems to me you’re being a wee bit “judgmental” of Dr. Sowell for the use of one word. :-)
Maybe North Korea would trade for Obama. Not many others.
I’ll grant you that and I think I explained my rationale in my first post. I give Dr. Sowell great credit for his knowledge in the many areas he writes about so I was surprised with what I consider a less-than-discerning usage of “accused.” I understood his basic point but that word was distracting, IMO. Maybe I was the only one on the planet with the issue, I guess.
I feel better now...how about you, FRiend? ;-)
I do too, FRiend and really do understand your point. ;-)

Just as Obama does for all his.

Bears repeating.

The word the attorney used WAS NOT murder, it WAS executed which
is highly inflammatory!!!!
I liked his last point the best.
