Many times officers began CPR after shooting individual.VERY BAD PRACTICE....too many infectious diseases for cops to give CPR. Secure the suspect, call for backup, THEN call EMT is proper procedure. I teach my students to NEVER touch the body if it is a good shoot.....
Now if the guy was a real jerk, you COULD give CPR real quick in order to get all the blood out of his body before EMT arrives....but then again, there is the issue with infectious diseases in the blood to begin with.
ANYWAYS....like Rule number 4: NEVER get out of the boat (in this case...never get in contact with someone elses blood)!

That's something which has never occurred to me-consdering all the things a cop be held liable for, what is the position on administering CPR? Does it vary dept to dept? If I were a cop, I would never give CPR, considering just the diseases rampant amongst home-grown thugs, not counting the varieties being imported.
