The thug assaulted a duly appointed LEO in the performance of his duties...
The police officer has absolutely no obligation to remain in his patrol car while a thug who just finished assaulting him attempts to escape.
I suppose you’re of the opinion the LEO should have “de-escalated” and cowered in his car?

You bet, and no one should forget this was Brown’s 2nd assault within minutes.
He got away with assaulting the little Indian guy at the greedy mart, but not with Wilson.
Brown was clearly a violent individual...
don’t know...I think now from all reports that the officer acted rightly. I just know when things get tough..barricaded suspect, etc..cops call in back up. Obviously it is easy for me to think that, I was not there and the officer probably had no idea that this nutcase bully would actually ask to be shot!
