CBC members push police czar idea (Congressional Black Caucus wants DoJ to run local departments)
The Politico ^ | August 25, 2014 | Lucy McCalmont

Posted on 08/25/2014 10:21:11 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Rep. Elijah Cummings, along with other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, sent a letter Monday to President Barack Obama, urging the administration to pursue changes to local law enforcement structure to “prevent more Fergusons,” including a federal czar to oversee local law enforcement.

“The administration must quickly establish a national commission to review existing police policies and practices,” the letter reads. “And identify the best policies and practices that can prevent more Fergusons and vastly improve policing in communities across the nation.”

In addition to the commission, the letter calls for the appointment of a federal czar within the Justice Department to monitor and oversee local police departments that receive federal funding.

Besides Cummings, a Maryland Democrat, Democratic Reps. Marcia Fudge of Ohio, Steven Horsford of Nevada, John Lewis of Georgia, Gwen Moore of Wisconsin and Barbara Lee of Texas signed the letter, as well as AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and actress Cynthia Nixon.

The letter comes the same day as the funeral for 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was shot and killed Aug. 9 by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer. The letter says Brown “is only the latest in a long list of black men and boys who have died under eerily similar circumstances.”

“The pattern is too obvious to be a coincidence and too frequent to be a mistake,” the letter reads, while acknowledging that many facts regarding Brown’s death are still unclear.

The letter notes both “systemic racial bias” and the militarization of police departments as “dangerous trends” and outlines a number of actions for the administration to address, including racial bias training for every local police department under guidelines set by the Justice Department. It also calls upon the Justice Department to set and implement national standards for investigations when police shoot unarmed victims as well as to set, implement and monitor diversity hiring and retention. The letter urges the administration to suspend programs that provide local police with military equipment while authorizing support under existing grants to foster more engagement between local law enforcement officers and the communities they serve.

Since I know these mental midgets didn't come up with this by themselves, I have a feeling this plan has been sitting in a file cabinet waiting for just such an occasion.

Just having Cummings name attached to it makes it an idea that should never be considered!

It’s and absurd idea that cannot ever be enacted. If such and asinine idea were to take hold, it would signify that the Federal Government is the Alpha and Omega.

Such a thing coming to pass would be without exception a line that if crossed would necessitate Revolution.

It’s a call for a nationalized police force.

What could go wrong?

Considering the amount of our citizens who are disengaged from politics outside of the occasional election and taking into account the current demographics, it’s not hard to see why they’ve become so bold.

Could this be the precursor to a ‘civilian police force, better armed and better funded than the military’?

Will the brownshirts become a reality if this goes through?

Fools! The reason nobody wants to live in Ferguson has nothing to do with drug-addled folks robbing stores and homes, shooting each other, and going through life preying on each other. The reason nobody wants to live there is all the police brutality!
Obama CAN and SHOULD do something about this by doing away with local and state governments once and for all. It’s time he gave us a unified, federal police force with one supreme commander answerable only to him, so that once and for all he can run our small towns as well as he ran Chicago; so he can lead the USA as well as he leads the World.

Just another excuse by black leaders to avoid dealing with the problems within black communities from coast to coast. Easy to go after the cops than deal with black on black killings, the high rate of black teenage pregnancy, and the large number of absentee black fathers.

I have a feeling this plan has been sitting in a file cabinet waiting for just such an occasion.

Bingo. Remember when Der Fuhrer said in his campaign:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Common Core nationalizes education. The new un-Constitutional and well-armed bureaucracy replaces elected members of Congress. And the new SS will make sure so-called "citizens" don't get carried away with silly ideas about free speech, freedom of movement or anything the new Reich doesn't like.

This makes perfect sense,
Have Obama/Holder take over all of the local government police.

This could only work with Obama in charge.
If it was a R we would have to be suspicious.

BTW : Cummings is my House Dem thanks to liberal invasion and redistricting here in my Maryland county.

This is chilling. Most Americans have no clue that our system of local police and sheriffs’ departments are what protect us from federal tyranny. It is the reason the sheriffs in CO told the Feds they would not enforce the new gun laws and the Feds backed down.

In police training, the local DA spoke to the new recruits and asked them what they would do if the president told them to arrest someone. The correct answer was “no”. Police and sheriffs are answerable to local authorities. If people were more aware of how important this system is, they would pay more attention to their local elections.

In most other countries, the police answer to the federal commissioner of police (or whatever his title happens to be), and don’t give a rat’s whisker what the locals think.

Obama and the socialists know that they can’t trust local police to do their bidding, and that is why they want federal police. It is very dangerous to our freedom.

Such a thing coming to pass would be without exception a line that if crossed would necessitate Revolution.

Revolution, or as we say here "Civil War II" which is also sometimes referred to as "American Revolution II", and in any case, qualifies for a PING!

CWII Ping!

Some well considered thoughts about one possible future scenario from Travis:
The CW2 Cube: Mapping the Meta-terrain

About the CWII Ping List:

The CWII Ping List is short for Civil War II. It is NOT a list of people advocating another Civil War in America. It is a list of people who are interested in the parallels between the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and our current situation, or more generally are noting the references to a 'coming Civil War' that are made in the press.

FR rules do not permit advocating for the overthrow of the Republic, and I am not aware of anyone doing so on the list. Still many do see that as the political climate worsens we may be heading in a direction that makes such a conflict all but inevitable, particularly if other avenues for resolving our differences are taken away. Such as widespread vote fraud by leftists making elections meaningless, or a small cadre of judges over-ruling all attempts to end destructive policies over the clear will of the people.

The correct keyword tag for the Civil War II ping list is "CWII".
Please Freep Mail me to get on the list

I believe that’s the whole goal. This administration and it’s allies everywhere are systematically pushing every button, every cockamamie idea, repugnant program, regulation and law. In the hopes that someone, somewhere in the country will flip out in such a way that the Press can manipulate it into a roaring bonfire that the ‘government’ just had to step in and declare martial law to ‘protect’ us.

And if that doesn’t work they’ll still gain total control over us through the new laws and regulations. So as far as they are concerned it’s win/win.

The issues in Ferguson and virtually every other inner city ‘hood are due to the fact that the only community activity the people participate in is to go vote themselves a share of the public pie, and that means voting Democrat every four years. If they would turn out and vote for City Council and go to Town Council Meetings, they wouldn’t have 50 of 53 police officers that are white in an all black neighborhood.

It’s so much easier to cash the checks and burn a few buildings down when someone snitches.

Too many American intellectuals lack any historical or geopolitical perspective. They all look elsewhere for utopia. America is the best there ever was and will be. We don’t have a national government, we have a federal one.

That most basic and critical distinction is lost on most Americans. We’re not Mexico.
