I'm scheduled to go to East Africa later this year.Already bought my ticket...completely non-refundable.I must admit I'm getting a bit scared.

Why on earth would you plan a trip to East Africa?

Even if there wasn’t an Ebola epidemic, what is there that would compel you to go there?

East Africa: EA Plans Intensive Airport Screening to Check Ebola

“TANZANIA and fellow East African Community (EAC) partner states have resolved to concentrate on Ebola virus prevention through intensive screening at the region’s airports.

An emergency meeting held to address the outbreak of the pandemic in the region has directed all airlines to carry special surveillance forms onboard for all arriving passengers to fill in; to ensure that the EAC Secretariat and Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA) develop a monitoring and evaluation tool to follow-up on the implementation.

The EAC Secretariat here has released the recommendations of the EAC-CASSOA convened meeting to address the Ebola scourge in the region. Bearing in mind that some operators based or transiting through the East African Community Partner States operate direct flights into the affected West African region, CASSOA held the emergency meeting of the five EAC partner states’ National Civil Aviation Authorities and National Airport Authorities to discuss the issues related to the matter under the auspices of the Centre for Aviation Medicine.

The emerging Ebola threat in West Africa has become a global concern with serious consequences. Experts believe that possible transportation of infected persons by air transport is a reality....”
