The comedian was undergoing an operation for her vocal cords when the incident occurred. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Shouldn’t she be hospitalized BEFORE and DURING the operation??

Not all operations take place in a hospital. Abortions and tooth impaction can occur in an office setting.

I went to a hospital to have my wisdom teeth extracted because I didn't want to run the risk of complications from the anesthesia (Valium IV). Texas' revised abortion regulations (which Wendy Davis huffed and puffed against) included proximity to emergency care and doctor's admissions for women who experience botched LEGAL abortions.
