The cost of getting caught with a little weed in Santa Fe will drop to just $25 max, thanks to a City Council vote Wednesday to decriminalize marijuana.

When the ordinance goes into effect, those caught with an ounce or less of marijuana in arts loving Santa Fe will be hit with a civil fine. Previously, it was a criminal misdemeanor carrying a possible $100 fine and jail time.

With the 5-4 vote, the liberal-leaning northern New Mexico capital known for its arts market and tourist draws joined the national movement to change marijuana laws, and became the first city in the state to decriminalize pot.

The move came after activists submitted enough valid voter signatures to force a public vote. …

Ohio decriminalized possession of marijuana (up to 100 grams) decades ago.

Somehow, we've persisted through the locusts, tsunamis, mass hysteria and spontaneous combustions that otherwise happen whenever/wherever the demon weed is legalized or decriminalized.

"Santa Fe council votes to decriminalize pot

At the same time, the Santa Fe City Council votes 5-4 to have five members jam their heads so far up their asses they see the shadow of their uvulas in the sunlight.

The state is fully under liberal thrall.

Every single statewide elected official is Republican.
The Ohio House & Ohio Senate both have Republican supermajorities.
All but one of our state supreme court justices is Republican.
Our governor is Republican.

I won't say all these folks are reliable conservatives. Many are not.

But to say Ohio is "fully under liberal thrall" demonstrates you don't know what you're talking about.

I said “liberal”, not “Democrat”. Establishment Republicans are liberal. The state went for Obama twice.

Considering I bought a house in Sante Fe and realtor was careful to point out that it already had a “grow room” as part of it, I think its pretty well tolerated. In fact, “grow room” was part of the listing, when I looked back.

(I was wondering why the greenhouse was so secure.)

We store ski equipment there.

I don’t know why a city would want to be the only place to decriminalize it because that would just attrack the trash..

Sante Fe is nice, but we have another house in Ruidoso (more East and more in the mountains) -— we are ski addicts and go where there is snow.

I like Ruidoso a lot better than Sante Fe. More normal people and more woods/trees/elk, etc.

The only Freeper I’ve met in person lives in Rui, too.
