Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately turn to the signatories of the Budapest Memorandum 1994 for consultations on the situation in the east of Ukraine.

This was after the meeting with the participation of the National Security Council President Poroshenko told the deputy secretary of the NSDC Michael Koval.

"The Council has asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs immediately appeal to States that have signed the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, regarding the consultation on the situation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions", - he said.

Also added Koval, "Ukraine asks for help in the UN Security Council, NATO, EU, OSCE States - strategic partners of Ukraine." "Our country is counting on help from the United States, in particular, by providing a special status of major non-NATO ally of the United States," - said Koval.

According to him, the National Security Council presented the relevant documents for signature by the President.

Recall Memorandum on Security Assurances in connection with the accession of Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (Budapest Memorandum) was signed December 5, 1994 between Ukraine, USA, Russia and Great Britain. The agreement contains provisions on granting Ukraine guarantees its sovereignty and security.

The treaty is a solemn obligation unless the “Leader of the Free World” is the replay of Neville, only darker! A treaty is only a treaty if he agrees with it!

Good luck with that....

Bill Clinton signed it, which means it isn’t worth the paper it is printed on.

Ditto for Clinton signing it. The same guy that killed Yugoslavia.

Horsefeathers.

Was the Budapest memorandum submitted to the Senate for ratification? Can the President make treaties on his own?

Didn't think so.

A memorandum is not a treaty of any kind and can be seen as void due to the fall of the govt and a change in constitutional order.
