Is that all just part of the plan? Or is Putin himself becoming erratic? And is the collective Putin coming unglued?

And he even admits it and his staff has to walk back his comments for him.

Since Obama and his cronies can't figure out Putin, that means Putin must be crazy!

I mean Obama is a genius and if a genius like Obama can't figure out Putin the way Kanye West from South Park can't figure out why he is a gay fish because he likes to eat fish sticks then clearly Putin is nuts and erratic.

Bringing Obama and his nonsense into the issue of Putin’s demeanor is nothing more than the false logic of a red herring argument. Obama is a Marxist, and Putin is a Marxist. Obama’s function is life is to destroy the fundamental strengths of the United States in preparation for the imposition of a Marxist government, which is the same objective as Putin’s. The article correctly observes Putin is obviously displaying his distress about undisclosed issues. One of those issues is the grave personal danger Putin is in at present

Stalin, for example, was assassinated by Beria and the others surrounding Stalin at his death. Stalin was assassinated at the time it occurred, because Stalin was about to embark on a venture of the utmost danger to the Soviet Union, the entire world, and many of the Soviet officials surrounding Stalin at the time. Stalin was getting older, and he wanted to see the Soviet Union conquer Europe in his own lifetime. To do so, Stalin wanted to begin the measures necessary to engage the United States and Great Britain in a nuclear war and general war. Among these measures was yet another purge of the officials closest to Stalin as he had done many times before, especially in the 1930s in preparation for the war in Europe. Beria and the co-conspirators knew Stalin would order their executions as he had so many other officers if they didn’t get him first. They reasoned they had a duty to assassinate Stalin to save the world from a nuclear war, the Soviet Union from such a war with the Western Allies, and themselves in Stalin’s next purge.

Today, Putin is looking over his own shoulder at the oligarchs and leaders of the FSB and armed services who could pose a threat to his own personal safety as the hardliners push for a war with the West and the softliners oppose such an open and destructive course of action for Russia today. His hesitation and appearance of being rattled is somehow connected to his precarious position as his erstwhile patrons battle each other and threaten to make Putin the sacrifice in their internal conflicts. If this confrontation goes too badly with the West diplomatically, economically, and/or militarily, Putin and Lavrov may be purged with extreme prejudice, just as putin has been sacrificing those Russian mercenaries who failed him and tried to retreat back into Russia.

The notion that Putin is not smart enough to be afraid he might be taken out is like saying Roman emperors always expected to die of old age.

The notion that Putin has been not seen in public because he is acting erratic - was just dispelled by a commentator on the newsarticle's website that linked to Putin having another of his 2 hour plus marathon question and answer sessions and Putin seemed like always - in command of the facts (as he sees them), witty by Russian standards and no crazy man facial ticks I can see.

This article itself by the State Dept's info wing (aka propaganda) actually sounds like the crappy and easily laughed at old Soviet propaganda they used to put out about western leaders, etc. probably because this article was contracted out by the State Dept to old Soviet era hacks and that is all they know.

Here is the comment I mentioned that someone posted at the bottom of this article in the original website:

I watched Putin’s 2-hour performance and Q/A at today’s Seliger love-fest (http://www.echo.msk.ru/blog/echomsk/1389738-echo/) and frankly, your assessment did not align with his performance. He was full of the same confidence, lexical command, and rhetorical flourish that he has polished over the past decade. There were no indications of being erratic or incoherent, but rather great sincerity and indications that he actually believes in the Kremlin perspective regarding this conflict (for a sample, watch from 02:00-12:00). For those who understand Russian, it was a vintage Putin recital.
