In Vietnam when we were a flight of 10 Hueys doing initial insertion to an LZ, AH-1Gs would pass us on both sides while punching off HE & `nails’ (flechette) rockets. Carried 7.62 minigun in their nose turret which fired anywhere the pilot looked. They were always welcome.
