Shoppers have for more than a year struggled to find basic goods including cooking oil, powdered milk and corn flour as well as detergent, shampoo and diapers.

These are exactly what preppers here in the US need to stock up on. Cooking oil has a short shelf life, so I would recommend coconut oil which has a longer shelf life and is healthier for you.

If I'm in a situation where it's not certain wheather I'll eat the day or not, I won't worry that it's pig lard that I'm eating.

Coconut oil only has a 1 year shelf life. Extra virgin olive oil is best at 2-3 years at pantry temperatures.
