Mencken was a freaking genius. I think he died back in the 1950s but almost everything he wrote describes BO’s regime dead on.

This is what I refer to as 'buffalo jump governance' - an arrangement that allows a few crafty individuals to hold sway over a vast herd of much more powerful creatures by instilling panic into their unthinking brains. "Never let a crisis go to waste."
