Obama on Labor Day touts economic gains under his leadership, is mum on pressing world concerns
Fox News ^ | September 1, 2014

President Obama used Labor Day to tout the country’s economic gains under his leadership and make an election-year case that higher wages and other progress for workers can only be achieved through a Democrat-controlled Congress.

“American workers and the American economy are better off since I took office,” Obama told a crowd filled with union supporters at the annual Laborfest event in Milwaukee.

“I’m not asking for the moon. I’m asking for policies that help folks get ahead. … Republicans running Congress are opposed to them.”

At one point in the speech, Obama enthusiastically told the crowd: “If I were looking for a good job that lets me build some security for my family, I’d join a union.”

While never specifically mentioning the mid-term elections in which Democrats are trying to keep control of the Senate, Obama repeatedly blamed Republicans for trying to block such efforts as immigration reform, increasing the federal minimum wage and lowering the cost of health care through the ObamaCare.

“Don’t boo, vote,” Obama told the crowd, recycling one of his popular lines from his 2012 reelection campaign.

Regarding Obama's assertion that American workers are better off, a protestor in Ferguson claimed that the reason that people are looting is because they can't get jobs.

And they'll never get a job until they pull their pants up and learn English and some manners.

Thugs cannot get a job because the only job they're qualified for is "hand to hand" drug sales.

jOkeass flies half way across the country to speak to an audience of drones about an economy that would be better off without him, when, he could have done that in D.C. without wasting so much money.

How many Democrat fund raising dinners did he hit on the route? That’s the reason for all his travel. And, not surprisingly, he’s raking in huge money from the true believers.

Who has gained? It’s the uber rich like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Jamie Diamond, and Eric Schmidt. They play the influence game, and are able to shield income from tax hikes.
Who else? Welfare recipients, illegal aliens and middle class government bureaucrats & workers. As a whole, they are nothing more than a drain on the economy. How does a “good” IRS worker actually help the economy?
Meanwhile, the middle class as a whole has lost income and wealth. The productive sector is being looted and manufacturing continues to go offshore.

I saw a clip of his speech, with him dropping his g’s. The audience was more than 50% composed of blacks in green union-supplied tee shirts. Disgusting—I can’t believe anyone falls for it. I even find it hard to believe that any working person, or person who has ever worked, isn’t enraged by the hackneyed political theater.

Most of those at his speech would be unaffected by a raise in the minimum wage. Those who are here without proper documentation wont be effected because they work for less then minimum wage. More hype.

Never mentioned by the media are what kind of economic gains exactly or what kind of jobs are being created.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

‘In November of 2007, the month before the recession began, 4.5 million Americans were working part time. By July of this year that number had risen to 7.5 million. There are currently 118.5 million full-time workers and 28 million part-time workers in the U.S. That compares with 122 million full-time workers and 24.6 million part-times in 2007.

These days, more Americans are being hired on a minimum-wage, part-time or contract basis.”

Some recovery, indeed. And in my city, Los Angeles, the economic illiterates are about to raise the minimum rate to $13.25/hour.

Interesting how those protesters in Ferguson had time to protest and demonstrate day after day for weeks on end - with no end in sight.

I’m sure my boss would happily give me three weeks or more off to protest in the streets.

I secretly hoped that he would do the right thing occasionally even for the wrong reasons ( like Clinton ) but it never happened. It’s almost like he’s an uber left computer program that can do no good if it isn’t liberal.

You couldn’t be more correct, with 0bama it’s political theater no matter what the subject or the venue.

Didn’t believe we’d ever have an impostor like him for a president.
