Firsthand Weather says this about the above pic.

"The Jamstec is predicting for the United States to experience very cold temperatures this winter. I believe the cold will be more focused in the eastern half of the United States, while most of the West will stay warmer overall. This model has the entire U.S. in an icebox, but I highly doubt the entire country will be cold like that.

I do keep an eye on this model during the pre-winter months, and it has consistently been predicting temperatures to be cold for the eastern half of the U.S. This is the first model run where it has spread the cold further west."
