A man killed by police officers in Texas on Saturday was armed only with a pellet gun and was shot more than 80 times, leaving him with 'no face', family members said.
The Laredo Police Department said it placed six officers who allegedly opened fire on Jose Walter Garza on administrative duties pending an internal investigation, media reported.
The incident, much of which was recorded on a surveillance camera, took place outside a truck stop on Saturday at around 2 am.

Here’s a suggestion: Don’t point things at the police, don’t try and grab their guns, don’t punch them, don’t rush them in an intimidating manner, especially if you outweigh them by 50 or 100lbs, and don’t tell them that you’re about to kill or maim them.
I guess when you got to shoot you don’t talk... you shoot. /s

If they really fired 80 times I REALLY don’t believe they hit him with them all.
If you aim a gun (or something that looks exactly like a gun) at cops you deserve to have your face shot off.

I found this line in the story rather interesting.

It was an imitation pistol (firearm) that he aimed at police ..
and you don't know it is anything less than a firearm until it discharges.
The man was apparently, mentally ill. They don’t know any better, and while I realize the cops have to subdue people and avoid injury to themselves regardless of one’s mental state, surely to God there are more humane ways of doing so than blowing their face off.
I wasn’t there and I presume you weren’t either, right?

He called 911x while driving saying he was going to kill cops. Then got out of the car on the freeway and assumed the stance ... with no gun. They smashed him.

When someone points a gun at you, you presume that they will fire, and that it may kill you. So you fire before they do if at all possible.
...and then you shoot until the perp is down and unable to get up, or in anyway use their weapon.
Being “humane” to someone threatening you with a firearm is a sure fired way to end up dead.
Not if they’re pointing a gun at you.
