I hate to sound like a recording glitch, but on several occasions I have attempted to point out that the people with whom we are in conflict in the Middle East don’t think like we think. The most dramatic evidence of this was the recent beheading of two journalists by ISIS, or ISIL, (whatever the current label) terrorists. Make no mistake, these are not patriots, freedom fighters or defenders of liberty; they are terrorists, pure and simple.

Part of the problem is that people don’t even want to have the conversation about those differences. I almost got banned from another forum for trying to have the discuassion. By stating fact, I was told that I was “troll ranting”. If we can’t even discuss the threat, how are we supposed to counter it?
Dan Simmons in his short story “The Time Traveler” has a good analogy for the mistake of calling it “The War on Terror” in 2001.

Further clarity should be that these are not people who worship God. They worship death, and call it their god.
No different in their thinking than Thuggee, who worshiped the death god Kali, and brought indiscriminate murder to India. And, to a great extent, like westerners who offer death sacrifices to Moloch with abortion and euthanasia.
In all cases, there is “no meeting them halfway”, that they only murder half as many people in exchange for bribes.
The only resolution to what they do is found in their total annihilation.
