Well, yes. The 2 or 3 white people were on one side (the side being attacked) and the 30 blacks were on the other side. The whites instigated the ruckus by trying to run from their assailants.

Apparently, some blacks got beat up because they wet with white people.
The attackers were all black, as would be expected from a beat whitey knock out game
