Is it ISIL, ISIS or Islamic State?

Whatever you call the jihadist group known for killing dozens of people at a time, carrying out public executions, beheadings, crucifixions and other brutal acts, there is no denying they have captured the world's attention.

On the eve of President Barack Obama's speech outlining Washington's strategy against the group, in which he will likely refer to it as ISIL, we ask: What's in a name?

Last week I looked up Levant, and I think it was Wikipedia which had a map that clearly showed the area of Israel was encompassed within Lavant, and thus, did not exist as a separate state.

Now, Wikipedia only has a description, no map.

What's in a name? Damn near the whole shooting match. The Left, with the help of their acolytes in the Lamestream media, have controlled the course of the debate in our Nation for the last half-century by defining the terms of the debate to suit their goals.

ISIS: Iraq + Syria. ISIL: Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Cyprus and part of Turkey. Referring to them as ISIL or the Islamic State, IMHO, ratifies their claim to legitimacy as as a Caliphate, not to mention throwing Israel under the bus.

Obama will refer to them as "ISIL" but certainly not as the Islamofascist barbarians that they are.

Stevens and Smith were sorely pressed, Doherty and Woods fought as men possessed. Obama and Clinton witnessed and lied, As American Heroes bled and died!

It’s ISIS, by everyone except the traitor in the White Hut. He refers to it as ISIL, thereby telling the world, in coded language, that he’s against Israel’s existence as a nation state, and in favor of ragheads and sharia law ruling the entire area once GIVEN to the Jews, in perpetuity by God Himself; but now referred to by anti-semites as “The Levant” from which the “L” in the name comes, replacing the “S”.

If you read your Bible and compare it to the map, you will see that the Levant is the Area that God promised to Israel.

The Levant is a very old term for the eastern end of the Med.

I can talk about the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea without implying that it is democratic, a republic or run in the interests of its people.

BTW, “Syria,” before the last century, referred to pretty much the same geographic area as The Levant.

Do a google search on Levant Map and look at images. You will find several. I posted one last week. Parts of Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and all of Israel. So it is only natural that our Caliphate loving Obama would favor the ISIL usage.

Does anyone know the origin of the terms ISIS AND ISIL?

One is confined to Iraq/Syria and the other to the entire Levant. Do they originate with reporters or politicians? Are they simply translations of what various Islamic groups express? Which groups say “ISIS” and which groups say “ISIL”?
