Plus ça change, plus c’est le même chose. The fruits of the Barack Obama promise that PolitiFact named its Lie of the Year for 2013 will keep coming in 2015, as a quarter-million Virginians will lose their existing health-care plans as more of ObamaCare’s mandates come into force. NBC’s affiliate WVIR reports that not only will 250,000 Virginians have to choose a new plan, they’ll also be paying much higher deductibles as well:
“Nearly a quarter million Virginians will have their current insurance plans cut this fall,” said the local anchor. “That is because many of them did not–are not following new Affordable Care Act rules, so a chunk of the companies that offer those individuals their policies will make the individuals choose new policies.”
Says the reporter, “This goes back to that now heavily-criticized line we heared before Obamacare was put in place: ‘If you like your plan, you can keep it.’ Ultimately, that turned out not to be true for thousands of Virginians and companies in the commonwealth. … Wednesday Virginia lawmakers on the health insurance reform commission met for the first time this year. Turns out, a staggering number of Virginians will need new plans this fall.”
The Washington Post’s Jason Millman also tells readers from around the country that their imaginations have not gotten the best of them — they really are paying more for health care, if your employer provides insurance coverage:
It’s not your imagination. If you have employer health insurance, you’re probably paying more and more out of your own pocket.
High-deductible plans have been under the microscope during the past year, given their prevalence among new individual coverage plans offered under the Affordable Care Act.

Yup. Here in Tennessee, our plan is adding an Obamacare mandated $1500 deductible on prescriptions.
Oops! 1600.
A new prescription drug annual out-of-pocket maximum ($1,600 individual/$3,200 family) for both plan options is now required by the Affordable Care Act.
Sometimes I wish I could edit. Maximum, not deductible.
To those who supported and voted for Obama and the democrats, you can eat from dumpsters and die in the streets for all I care.
You wanted this liberal crap sandwich, you voted for it, you stabbed America in the back with it, now you can live with it........ and die with it.
One of my favorites: “We told you so”.
God help me! I admit that I agree with you.
Except for Kaiser Permanente which is v-e-r-y expensive, nothing but catastrophic coverage is available starting 1/1/15.
If Covered California doesn't get most of the health insurance market, they won't be able to cover all the dregs and illegal Mexicans who are signing up in droves but not paying the premiums. That's why they're driving all the insurance companies out of California. I'd complain to Thelma and Louise (a.k.a., Feinstein and Boxer), but they're exempt from the coverage and from the tax penalty.
I must be really tired...I first read “Virgins”. That would certainly be a new kind of discrimination.
The Republicans have really been behind the curve in promoting Obamacare for the elections. Maybe they figure that people whose health care costs have doubled or tripled will actually associate that with Democrats.
That is a very risky assumption to make.
By now they should have been actively tarring ALL Democrats with Obamacare. It is not hard to do.
“Have your health insurance premiums gone up? Are they going to go up more? You bet. Democrats did that to you. Just Democrats. ONLY Democrats. If you DON’T want to pay a whole lot more for health care, then DON’T vote for Democrats. ANY Democrats. Ever.”
Republicans have this bad habit of not attacking Democrats when they are weak. Instead, Republicans back off and try to “play nice”, which Democrats would *never* do if their roles were reversed.
So Republicans must learn: When Democrats are in the gutter, STOMP ON THEM. Don’t be stupid and help them up.
Again.
The republican "leadership" is in the tank for the dims.
Make that 250,000 + 1.
I just found out today.
