Exactly. The cartels know where their bread is buttered. If they assisted Isis that would be the end of their cushy existence.
One of the things about true believers is that they have no guilt about what they’re doing, so they can’t conceive of being caught. As a result, their ops are usually pretty unsophisticated. That southern border idea seems a little complex for them.
