I am not missing the point. They have to be in the process of getting their citizenship to qualify for in state tuition. Not promising to do it later but “in the process” of doing it and they must have graduated from a Texas high school.

After floating across the Rio Grande on an inner tube (yes I have seen it with my own eyes) You think that “in state college tuition” is why their parents brought them here..? NO it's not.

Should people be able to float the river and stay here? NO......... but it's too late to kick these kids out, like it or not they are Texans.

Then you are advocating for amnesty. Because that is what allowing ILLEGAL aliens citizenship is. You are also apparently accepting that these lawbreakers are receiving taxpayer-funded financial aid. Both of these positions are known to be common liberal positions. Why are you advocating these liberal positions in a conservative forum?

Why their parents brought them here is irrelevant. That they are here and qualify for ANYTHING that American citizens do not is. You may think that is fine, and I can see you do. So does most every liberal. Conservatives oppose it, as do I.

Should people be able to float the river and stay here? NO......... but it's too late to kick these kids out, like it or not they are Texans.

That is another famous liberal line. Rewarding ILLEGAL behavior is never the answer. Nor is throwing in the towel. If we adopt your attitude more will come. We need to enforce our laws so more will not come. And we need a president who is determined to do just that. We know Rick Perry is not that man as his well-known, documented liberal views on ILLEGAL immigration are in line with that of the dems and, frankly, you.

Ditter, I see where you are coming from and I agree.

To me it is a matter of dealing with what is reality and wishing for something that ain’t gonna happen. There isn’t going to be a mass round up and deportation of illegals ala Eisenhower. It won’t happen. the Feds and the general public won’t allow it. Sometimes you have to play the cards you have been dealt and try to limit any further damage.

No. Illegals should not be applying for citizenship. They need to come in the front door to do that. Illegals are not US Citizens and should not be attending high school. All that is for legal immigrants. What you are talking about is what our government is allowing to happen.

Also:

In 2001, the House (which at the time had a 78-72 Democratic majority) voted 142-1 in favor. The Senate, with a 16-15 Republican majority, voted 27-3 to pass it.

Perry could not veto a majority bill from the legislature.

So, technically, if people want to bitch about it:

Put the blame where it belongs - on the Texas Legislature who passed the damn bill. Not Perry.
