High Hopes for Russia Are Fading on Wall St.
The New York Times ^ | September 22, 2014 | Andrew Ross Sorkin

Goldman Sachs has an office in Moscow. So do Citigroup and Morgan Stanley. JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, too.

Russia was supposed to be a growth market for Wall Street. It is quickly turning out to be a potential financial nightmare and a political hot potato.

With the deteriorating relationship between the United States and Russia over Ukraine, and a series of punitive sanctions clearly slowing Russia’s economy, Wall Street banks are facing a conundrum: Should they stay or go?

Wall Street’s involvement with Russia has long been a source of controversy. Some critics contend that Western banks have quietly helped enrich the government of President Vladimir V. Putin while he ran roughshod over the rule of law, often confiscating assets from political opponents. [...]

Does this have any relationship with Russia trying with some other countries to start a World Bank alternative?

When we defeated their empire I really hoped that we could civilize the russians and that they would join us, but russia seems unchangeable.

Well, at least it’s just high hopes being dashed, and not high apple-pie-in-the-sky hopes - because that would be tragic...

No, Russia is changeable...but when we have a president who refuses to honor promises made to our allies about missile defense (Poland) what do you expect?

So true, ansel. You know, we have babies for dinner over there.

Evidently Russia isn’t changeable, and who is president of the U.S., doesn’t change who they are.

Since you work with Russian military intelligence you have the things that you want to post here, but you didn’t actually refute my facts.

While Wall Street gonna feel like a ton of BRICS fell on them when they realize what percentage of the planets population is no longer open to their manipulations and games.

For now, though, they can stay happy rearranging the deck chairs while the “post industrial society” they promised would make us all fat and happy continues to economically kill off the Middle Class while BarryCare implements plans to literally kill off the Middle Class when they are no longer sufficiently useful.

No, dearest ansel. I’m eating babies for dinner. The biggest problem with your statement is that it is unable to change big enough to satisfy you. Everything is not enough.

No, you can’t refute the facts, so you keep hoping that mocking it with “eating babies” will distract from the reality.

Your military does have an earned reputation of brutality and rape and mass murder, and mass executions, and conquest for empire.

An empire was dissolved more than 20 years ago. And most of the military sent back home either. You see, ansel, it is not enough for you.

The Russian military is weaker and smaller but it hasn’t really changed has it, after all, they are invading a neighbor right now.

Twenty years has not changed Russia fundamentally, we hoped that we could bring them into civilization and the company of man, but Russia is unchangeable.

“The Russian military is weaker and smaller.”

That really is not true anymore.

I’m sorry, ansel, but you aren’t honest. Or maybe you are but simply have no idea what are you talking about. To me you personnally are still fighting a cold war.
As for the western elites (leftist to boot) they are probably disappointed that Russia is not communist anymore. Russia surely had better press in old times.

Of course it is true, you think they are fielding 6.4 million men and 7 Airborne Divisions, and the massive force they used to have?

I am honest but you aren’t, you work with Russian military intelligence as a soldier with FSB, and you signed up here to push propaganda during this invasion.

Right now your current invasion threatens NATO as you proceed with reconquering nations that had escaped you when we brought down your evil empire.

Russia is unchanged.

OMG, ansel, you are at it again. Do you at least realize that one can’t work for military intelligence and FSB at the same time?:)

More dishonesty.

I never said you work for military intelligence, I said you work with them, I was in a Special Operations unit, we always work with MI to some degree.

FSB would as well.
