I always wondered why, with so many issues in the world, why Stephanopolos(sp?) asked GOP presidential candidates if states could ban contraception. The Democrats clearly decided to pick a fight about birth control in the first place. It’s nice to see some blowback to liberals finally on an issue they created out of thin air in the first place.

Yeah, well, the GOP is doing this to force women off of their healthcare plans, see, by making them buy contraceptives over the counter instead of for free, you know, because, like, they hate um women. /no s, I actually heard this.

One statistic which I often hear bandied about is that Americans, while only 4% of the world's population, consume 60% of the world's prescription drugs.

While this may be true, the flip-side is that there are an awfully lot of drugs available OTC in other first world countries which are available only by prescription in the USA.

Most of Europe sells birth control pills over the counter. Japan sells so much codeine OTC that Armed Forces Radio there runs constant announcements reminding the guys on base that even though it may be legal in Japan, it will be treated as a controlled substance if they bring it on base because military bases are considered U.S. Territory just like embassies and consulates.

Good! So now Sandra Fluke can head down to the local COSTCO and buy a year’s worth of birth control and lay back and just “fluke” her life away to her hearts content and we don’t ever have to hear about her pathetic sex life ever again — I’d second that.

Why was birth control, by any means, ever considered part of "health care" anyway.
