The Temple Institute’s crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the modern architectural plans for the Third Holy Temple in Jerusalem came to a close on Rosh Hashanah after surpassing its $100,000 goal in 60 days. The initiative began on the first day of the month of Av, when Jews commemorate the destruction of the ancient Holy Temples. Almost 900 pledges have come in from more than 30 countries worldwide.

Crowdfunding is a new method of fundraising that leverages the power of the Internet to gather investments or contributions from around the world. The Temple Institute used the Indiegogo platform to reach out to supporters, with links to social media pages, like Facebook, where the campaign page received 10,000 shares. A promotional video on the Facebook and Indiegogo pages, which depicts a digital rendition of the Holy Temple on the modern day Temple Mount, has been viewed by over 160,000 people.

Jews have prayed to rebuild the Temple, three times daily since its destruction by Roman Legions in 70 CE. The Temple Institute's project to draw up architectural plans began three years ago with the Chamber of Hewn Stone...

The Temple Institute has been around since 1987. They do good research and education. Great website:

Are they key to rebuilding the Temple? Not so much.

“Are they key to rebuilding the Temple? Not so much.”

Maybe they’ll keep trying, until someone survives the effort. On their mock-up of the Ark, by the way, they didn’t make the cherubim correctly (darker world, this is). They look too romantic and beastly, as if they had little minds of their own.

Besides, no one’s going to think about the Ark (Yirmiyahu 3:16).

IMO, things appear to be almost weird enough but too quiet for the rebuilding. Maybe we should stop being chickens and pray for idiots everywhere to be motivated to start the shindig (Yechezkel).

The State of Israel government is embarrassed by religious fundamentalists such as might be serious about a rebuilt Temple, and would never allow it.

Any serious attempt would be under the authority of the Ashkenazi and Sefardi Councils of Torah Sages, which the Temple Institute is not.

Christians and other outsiders wildly underestimate the difficulties, even if there were no Muslim threat.

Thank you. I looked and hadn't found anything about who is behind the Institute.

"Christians and other outsiders wildly underestimate the difficulties, even if there were no Muslim threat."

Or even impossibilities for now. "Shindig" in my earlier comment was an allusion to the many good difficulties to precede the rebuilding--not the rebuilding itself. So see? I still ask for trouble.

“Idiots everywhere” was a reference to the likes of those with “hooks in their jaws” (and many others before).

Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, founder of the Temple Institute, gets harassed by the Israeli government on various pretexts.

His views are religious Zionist and he was close to Rabbi Meir Kahane.

He also promotes

which, like the Temple Institute, lacks the authority of the Councils of Torah Sages.

Thank you. It would seem to be hard to find qualified judges, yet, for reestablishing the Sanhedrin.
