I like the liberal Beckel just because he has a surprisingly good insight into the black soul of Islam.
Beckel is still going to look at American-style capitalism and believe the little guy is getting screwed. What he’s going to remain blind to is the degree to which democrats - more than even republicans - have worked to ensure that was possible.
All government does is erect barriers to entry. Their record at opening new markets is, and always will be, appalling.
That works for the market leaders. They use regulation to stifle innovation. They use more of it to expand the businesses of those that have long since stopped innovating.
Banning the incandescent bulb is just one example. Can’t beat it, so you ban it in the name of energy savings. Ethanol, and the list goes on.
But Beckel sees the little guy getting screwed, and the companies huge money donations to both sides of the aisle being the reason. He’s right about that, but that’s a bipartisan issue, in that both parties are all about getting elected, cashing in, and retiring rich.
