R&B star Akon has been accused of going to extreme lengths to avoid catching Ebola during a concert in Africa ... by crowd-surfing inside a giant plastic bubble. [...] But his actions prompted breathless reports from certain media outlets that, rather than just being a creative way of performing closer to his fans, it was a cynical attempt to shield himself from the deadly virus that is sweeping West Africa. [...] Forty-two people have died in DR Congo since the outbreak erupted in West Africa six months ago. The first reported case in DR Congo was on August 26. Some 70 cases of the deadly virus have been confirmed in a remote region near the town of Boende some 800 kilometres (500 miles) northwest of Kinshasa, with a mortality rate of around 60 percent.

I don't have a problem with the bubble, and actually think its kind of cool. A musician can interact with a crowd without worrying about crazies in the crowd. But if he is worried about getting ebola enough to break out the bubble, then the question is why have the concert at all? Sure he is protected, but he is the only one. the rest of the crowd is packed together breathing, coughing and sneezing on each other.
Bubble boy? What a Moop!
Hope no one busts his bubble.
I don’t blame the guy.
looks like a see though good and plenty
"I see ya wining/dining/up on da floor!"
It looks like if Akon stays in that bubble long enough, he’ll avoid catching oxygen as well....
That’s no bubble, it’s a Bro Globe
Let’s see a white guy try that.
Meanwhile the stagehands are being forced to touch a contaminated bubble, help Akon out of the bubble, which contaminates him also.
Go figure.
What’s your story? How about taking off your top.
*Bzzzzzt*
I don’t either. What’s he supposed to do, expose himself to Ebola to show he supports Africans???? What a stupid article.
Oh? Like Flaming Lips have done for over a decade?
How about you stay out of the crowd if you want to give a concert? Do the fans get bubble costumes too?
The nerve of trying to protect himself from a deadly virus. Off with his head.
The Moors
That’s not what I meant.
The original picture has a Black guy, above a Black crowd, who is trying not to be too close to the crowd so he doesn’t catch any disease from them.
If a white guy tried that, the cries of racism would be deafening.
Yes, I do see that your picture has a White guy above a colored crowd, but the intent in that situation is different.
Black audiences don’t go see white performers.
