For those of you old enough to remember, George H. W. Bush wanted to be president in 1988. Despite Reagan’s popularity, this was still a heavy lift. No sitting vice president had been elected straight to the Oval Office since Martin Van Buren. So, away from the cameras off at Kennebunkport, he sacrificed over 1,000 oxen, bulls, and gnus to Zeus, Crom, Baal, Thor, Moloch, M. C. Hammer and any other deity he could think of. The gods were well-pleased. As a reward for his sacrifice they delivered unto him a golem-homunculus named Michael Dukakis. (Dukakis in Greek means “Please give me a wedgie.”) Dukakis proved to be exactly the kind of opponent Bush needed.
For instance, in the very first question of a presidential debate, CNN’s Bernie Shaw asked Dukakis a hypothetical question: Would he favor the death penalty for the man who brutally raped and murdered his wife, Kitty? The golem-homunculus responded with all of the passion, empathy, and humanity you’d expect from a tiny little fake human or maybe — when he really got worked up — a Speak-&-Spell. And then he rode a tank while wearing a helmet that made him look like a really, really, serious Playmobil action figure.
Good times.
But that’s all ancient history. I bring up Michael Dukakis because Hillary Clinton seems to think he was on to something.

I look at this headline as defamatory to Mike Dukakis.
Dukakis was benevolent compared to this evil, venomous *itch.

Being a mul-atto is of no matter except that, as you say, he is really NOT a black man. The part that matters is that he has less everyday common sense than a mule. I know something about mules and I can tell you that if you ride in a wagon pulled by a mule miles into places where the mule has never been you can turn him around 180 degrees, lay the reins down, go to sleep and you have a 99% chance of winding up back at home when you wake up. If you hitch your wagon to Obama he will sleepwalk you into disaster beyond your imagining and then blame it all on the mule that was left back in the barn.
Dukakis was more qualified than Hitlery. At least HE had some true executive experience, having been a governor of a state.
She has been a teat-nuzzler all her life...living purely off the taxpayer.

I agree! Remember that old line from the Slick Willie impeachment days, this doesn’t “rise to the level of”? Well, Hillary has never come close to rising to the level of Michael Dukakis. I don’t think he was ever presidential material but I don’t recall his ever acting in the disgraceful manner of a Clinton. In fact I can visualize Hillary climbing a ladder to tie his shoelaces...and then botching the job.
I concur with each post that highlights the person of Shrillery as evil and compared to her, Dukakis is GHWB.
I believe the point the author was making was purely related to comparing the "messaging" of the two campaigns.
what’s the latest buzz about Hillary’s health? Heard that she had something going on in the health dept that they want to keep under wraps. Dukakis was a putz, Hillary is far more dangerous. I really think what clinched it for Obama was the Teddy Kennedy endorsement.
It's gonna happen again. They're gonna pull someone out of their butt again....a male....
They're not going to take a chance on her. And I believe blacks will stay home.
And women?? What are they going to gain by voting for Hillary.
I predict lotsa Dems staying home.

I believe I said this before in this forum. When Obama was elected the 1st time, I understood all the hoopla about a black (1/2 black)guy running for president. But didn’t know anything about him. The best commentary I got at the time was from a guy from Illinois named Rick Moran. He had a blog called right wing nuthouse. He spelled out point by point Obama’s involvement in the Chicago political machine and his lefty (hard core lefty) pedigree. That was enough for me. So I couldn’t pull the lever for him even though he was the first “person of color” to have a shot at the presidency. BTW I am a person of color as well—my color is beige. Hillary has more dirty laundry than a million washing machines could clean. Just the fact that she is a woman doesn’t cut the mustard for me. I would have liked to have seen a black guy become president—BUT NOT THE BLACK GUY WHO IS IN THERE NOW. And I would like to see a woman become president as well. But not that shrew of a woman.
