I'm no at all certain that I'd voluntarily treat an ebola patient if I was a health care worker/A nurse that I worked with in a big city ER developed AIDS and Hepatitis C after having been stuck by a needle during a code. Her life has been sheer hell ever since.

Even Ray Charles saw it coming.

...”You knew this one was coming eventually”...

Yes, this is going to happen..Nurses and doctors want to survive, too. It is up to governments to close borders and to stop flights from going in to and out of the hot zones. Ebola should not be considered an “equal opportunity” virus. Political correctness needs to go if we are to survive physically and in many other ways in this nation. This may sound harsh but this country does not have the healthcare or financial resources to take this virus on for the world. As soon as we have a few more cases here, everything could shut down because people will be panicked. In my lifetime, America has not faced as many crisis all at once as we are facing now and it can be laid squarely at the feet of our government and the media, both Democrat and Republican. They all wanted to be invited to the D.C. parties and to be in with the “Swells.” This is the consequence of not having statesmen and women at the helm. Perhaps God has not been happy with the hedonistic trends which have flooded us from the 60s on and just decided to let the consequences roll. Disease has changed the course of history before and just might do it again. It is past time for prayer.

The politicians who want to be politically correct are not on the front lines handling these people. Ultimately this decision will be made by health care workers, people who clean airplanes, mortuary workers, etc.

They are an embarrassment to their profession.

Spain’s medical establishment is sure not looking good so far.

if/when ebola starts spreading around the US and the nurses and doctors start resigning in droves I guess all the outrageously high premiums and deductibles being charged for obozo care mandated policies will become more of a scam on the citizens that it is now.

The so called war against ebola seems more like an effort to liberate it from its confinement within Africa.

Yet, the US is sending Infantry troops, with no help in combating any infection. There is NO HELP FOR THESE SOLDIERS, once in country. There is no ex-fil.

It's an employment contract, not a suicide pact.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

No aircraft cleaners. No nurses. Next no janitors or maids in hotels, then office buildings. Then trains and buses.

So much for the vaunted first-world hygiene and cleanliness being the factor that stops this disease in its track.

When this happens within 50 miles of your home, it is time to start following a bug out or bug down protocol.

When the nurses start refusing to go to work, you know the end is coming. They like caring for patients. Most generally take much greater risks than the normal person.

When they leave the ship, it’s taking on water. (I am NOT calling them rats. I am saying they will know when the ship is going to sink.)

Just wondering if anyone posted this: The Wrong Way to Fight Ebola. It makes a lot of sense to me. (Not the video. Scroll down for the op-ed.)

Can’t say that I blame them. Those that do are heroes.

You knew this one was coming eventually....

It's already happening en masse in Liberia. Doctors and nurses are getting the hell outta Dodge and leaving patients to fend for themselves. Sadly, many of these health care workers are probably already infected and don't know it yet.

Good for them. I would quit, too, if I witnessed a co-worker contract Ebola after taking all necessary precautions, and then was blamed for “breaching protocol”.
