In almost every electoral cycle, Republicans feel they have a winning hand in Minnesota to turn the state red. And in almost every electoral cycle, their hopes get dashed. The GOP has not won a statewide electoral contest in Minnesota since Tim Pawlenty’s narrow re-election victory in 2006, and according to Survey USA’s latest poll, 2014 won’t break the pattern:
In Minnesota, one month to Election Day, incumbent Democrats Mark Dayton and Al Franken appear well positioned for re-election, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSTP-TV in Minneapolis-St Paul. The victories do not reflect any larger love for Democrats nationwide. Barack Obama’s approval rating in Minnesota is Minus 14, with just 39% approving of the job he is doing as President.
In the Senate race, Al Franken leads today by 18 points, 55% to 37%. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released 08/22/14, Franken is up 4 points, and Republican challenger Mike McFadden is down 5 points. Franken had led McFadden by 9 points, now twice that. In August, McFadden had led among men by 5 points. Today, Franken leads among men by 15 points, a 20-point swing to the DFL. In August, Franken and McFadden were tied among independent voters; Franken today leads by 17. In Northeast MN, McFadden in August had led by 2 points, now trails by 28 points. Franken’s job approval today is at its all-time high of 56%, unchanged from August 2014.
In the Governor race, Mark Dayton today leads by 11 points, 51% to 39%. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released 08/22/14, Dayton is up a nominal 2 points, Republican challenger Jeff Johnson is down a nominal 1 point. Although at the highest level, the polling is stable, there is some offsetting movement in the sub-populations.

Minnesomalia.
I haven’t read total article or comments on this thread.
Just have to say that it’s very difficult to believe such huge swings in +/- in less than two months, with all the + going to communist Dems. ....Don’t trust the polling there.
Obviously...judging from past elections...most people who vote in Minnesota are unashamedly...Stupid!!!
I guess I trust the polling there. People in MN are just plain liberal whackos, and not likely to change. The only state that didn’t go for Reagan? That tells you all you need to know.
MN, IL and both coasts are no longer American.
One way to stop all that in its tracks is to repeal and replace the 16th Amendment. Politicians have been able to abuse this (massive abuse when you count the trillions in debt) and give away the treasury for votes and power. I still hope and pray it is not too late, God willing.

As a Minnesota conservative its painful to watch. Like many states, welfare liberals in the cities overwhelm the rest of the state, however Minnesota has managed to infiltrate outstate midsized towns with reliable Somalis. They may not be so good at assimilating or appreciating the traditional American spirit, but they are good at voting. Multiple times if necessary.
Hmmmm ..?? How do you know the poll is CORRECT ..??????
After all, we do know the left loves to lie.
Al Franken wouldn't know a farm from a fart, and he probably forgot the useful idiot's name before the dust was washed off his limo.
Explain California.
Minnesota’s elections were never seriously in play. The minnies love anything with a (D) after its name. Good God, they haven’t voted for the R in a Presidential election since 1972.
“What IS in the water there, anyway?”
The same water that caused them to elect Walter Mondale, Paul Wellstone, Jesse Ventura, Al Franken and Keith Ellison. Quite a mess out there.
Sack Priebus!
If true, Minnesotans are stone cold dumb.
Here is Oregon the rat Senate candidate runs meaningless, policyless, ads showing him in his garage playing ping pong in a t-shirt and accusing the GOP Dr. candidate of favoring the “Koch agenda of wanting to cut social security and medicare and favoring tax cuts for for businesses who ship jobs overseas”.
I guess the idiots buy it because Dr Welby is supposed to lose - despite the disaster of the new health care system in Oregon, despite our rat governor’s girlfriend found to have been in a sham marriage with a Nigerian for 5k, despite our poverty rate....and on and on.
A beautiful state ruined by gross stupidity.
MN also gave us Gus Hall.
To many on the dole? believe it! The candy man can
“In almost every electoral cycle, Republicans feel they have a winning hand in Minnesota to turn the state red.”
But you can bet the girls and boys who put this losing position together make their money anyway.
Is the national GOP any different? Of the tons of ammunition obama has given them, almost nothing was used. they even allowed Candy Crowley, of all people, to lie during the debate, putting Romney in a bad position.
