We're never going to get the government, at all levels, in control unless office holders actually have to live in the areas they represent, and for at least a few years before running for office.
I totally agree.
Actually the Tax Payer bought her a house. The government built Secret Service quarters on the property them paid rent on the facility that likely covered the cost of the house payment.
Be advised, Mittens was a long-time resident of Massachusetts by the time he ran for governor. He was no carpet bagger. He made his career in Massachusetts, graduating from HBS, going to work at Boston Consulting Group, then Bain & Company, then founding a Bain offshoot, Bain Capital, where he made his considerable pile.
His political career, which is hopefully over, might indeed have turned out better, had he run for governor of Utah, not Massachusetts, after having famously rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics, to be held in Salt Lake City, from financial and ethical perdition. Utah being a red state. Of course, that would have been carpet-bagging! But he would have had a far more compliant legislature to deal with.
Of course, Mittens's problem is that conservatism is not his native language. He can speak it if he concentrates. But that tell-tale RINO accent still comes through.
