The list of senators who don’t own a home in the state they purport to represent is getting longer and longer. Cochran, Landrieu, Roberts...TERM LIMITS should be the answer to this. Once you get a ritzy house in DC there is no going back home to the farm....

One term. Senators and Representatives. Repeal the 17th amendment. Everything else is churning the rubble.

Each state should be required to own and to maintain a sufficient number of residences in the district to house their representatives while they are busy governing. That way, there would be no reason to pay a per diem to each congresscritter for housing. Each state would be free to invest in luxury or in utility for their representatives. Or there could be a federal dorm built for the purpose of housing the representatives and keeping them away from the lowly commoners.
