Then the basics; eggs, milk, beef, etc. - all the daily items are going up at rates higher than claimed inflation rates. They can claim “on average” but that means nothing to people struggling to get by, the increases in basic items is killer.
They’re liars.

They only claim certain things as a measure of inflation. It’s a rigged system. I believe they just changed their specs to make sure you will get less.

Yea, that will almost cover the increase in my Plan A/B, D and F

SS is calculated based on the average CPI in July, August and September. Gasoline, natural gas and food prices spiked in the third quarter of 2008 which resulted in a 5.8% COLA in 2009. Fuel prices dropped in the fall (I remember getting gas for $1.42 at Christmas that year). If the fourth quarter CPI was used then the SS COLA would have been about 2% for each of 2009-2011 instead of 5.8, 0 and 0 using third quarter data.

What/whose plan do you have? That increase seems more than a little outrageous.

Exactly! I have left the Republican party just because of Social Security and them wanting to “reform” it. NO! It’s self-supporting.......money paid in by workers all their working lives and it doesn’t need reforming. The goobers need to pay it back and leave it the hell alone!!!

Is your plan F the high deductible or the regular plan F? Have you looked at the plan N?

And how much will Part A cost next year? The government giveth and the government taketh away.
They are putting off announcing the increase in Part A till after the election so take a guess.

It was MVP...They went from $0 to $26 to $40 to $99.60 dollars...and that's without prescription coverage.
They're just forcing you to change plans. And this is all related to Obamacare.
The other plands might be a little cheaper....BUT...huge deductibles.

Grams A said:
"I paid into SS beginning in 1955 ..." At any time during the intervening sixty years did you ever question whether such a contribution could reasonably generate value for you now, given how the government has been spending the money and promising even more?
If you had contributed this money to a known Ponzi scheme instead of to the government, how much would you be due?
The money you contributed has been SPENT; all of it. The only thing remaining is the "true faith and credit" of the United States. Is it not obvious that such faith is misplaced and that the U.S. will never be able to provide the expected value to future generations?
You should be prepared to be thankful if you receive anything at all and also be prepared to be condemned by future generations for having fallen for such a fraud.
You are no more justified in expecting payment than those future generations who we know will not be paid.
To: Brother Cracker
as an ss recipient, I could simply say “good” but as someone informed on the ss finances I can also say: “the ‘extra’ money is coming from where???”

There’s no “contribution” to it. The money was SEIZED. Wage earners weren’t asked, nor given a choice.
