Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen said Thursday he would raise his Ebola-fighting investments to $100 million, with programs to train doctors in Massachusetts and to build special containment units to evacuate any who get infected.

Allen, the shyer sidekick of billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates, wants to use the cash both to strategically help the fight against Ebola and to attract even more money.

“The Ebola virus is unlike any health crisis we have ever experienced and needs a response unlike anything we have ever seen,” Allen said in a statement. “To effectively contain this outbreak and prevent it from becoming a global epidemic, we must pool our efforts to raise the funds, coordinate the resources and develop the creative solutions needed to combat this problem. I am committed to doing my part in tackling this crisis.”(continued)

That's more than most governments have pledged, I believe.

Maybe they can build a private bowling alley for the Medical Sans HorseSense doctors that bring Ebola back to the USA.

BTW, I think some of the hype about this disease, has been the government trying to bilk millions out of U. S. Citizens. It’s a guilt-trip, because we were so unfair to Africa.

That's right, throw money at a problem and it will just magically disappear.

How's that multi-trillion dollar "War on Poverty" doing?

Better private philanthropists giving their own money than governments commandeering their citizen’s money.

The people who eradicated polio relied more on dedicated people and science then on unlimited funds and gubmint grants.

So Polio is Eradicated, huh?

Thanks for posting this.

Good to keep tabs on financial elites’ and their obsession with controlling food and medicine in Africa.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
