WASHINGTON, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - US President Barack Obama along with environmental activists is waging an all-out assault on American oil and gas production and hydraulic fracturing, a report published by the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) said.
"This strategically organized alliance [between the Obama administration and far-left environmental activists] has gone to great lengths to misconstrue facts, falsify science, and manufacture risks in order to vilify hydraulic fracturing with the long-term goal of ending the production of the nation's oil and natural gas resources," the 111-page report published Thursday said.
Two weeks before the midterm elections EPW Committee Republicans blame Obama's administration for expanding federal authority and attacking oil and natural gas development while using the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to lead an attack on affordable energy.
The report addresses what it labels as the "myths" of hydraulic fracturing imposed by the current government, which includes air pollution, water contamination and earthquakes.

He sure is. Along with his war on coal.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Obama and his disciples, a/k/a voters have been waging war on everything American since he occupied the white House. Why should fracking be exempt?
Global Warming on Free Republic
Obama channeling Sir Winston Churchill....
Churchill's strategic directives to his war cabinet:
1. Destroy manufacturing industry ...starting with ball bearing factories
2. Destroy means of production or petroleum products
3. Destroy means of production of electricity...start with coal mines and railways.
4. Terrorize the population ...fire bomb Dresden.
And the Obama equivalents:
1. Taxes, EPA, Obamacare and jobs exported
2. Stop the Keystone pipeline and target Fracking
3. EPA and CO2 to shut down coal fired electrical generators
4. Introduce Ebola and numerous diseases into USA by open borders, import thousands of illegal children from South America and continue to allow flight from Ebola infected countries.
Not to worry. Low oil prices will soon bring the whole affair to a screeching halt.
Unlike 0bama, Churchill's enemy was not his own country.
Fracking does cause earthquakes. It’s an error to label that a myth.
Besides that, the logic of going after fracking is ridiculous. The next couple of years are going to be interesting...
In my opinion, no.
Wrong. The used water, along with water from production wells, in put into disposal wells, that has been linked to very minor earthquakes.
No study has linked the process of hydraulic fracturing to earthquakes. Only the placement of the used water in injection disposal wells has been linked.
In more locations, the water is being treated and recycled, eliminated this concern.
President Obola just looking out for his Saudi Overlord’s.

I'm reminded of a public figure that once stated:
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman."I am not against fracking. Industry publications clearly outline placement of both fracking sites and wastewater sites 'away from known faults'. Regardless, deep-fluid injection has been known to cause earthquakes since the '60s. Rocky Mountain Arsenal's wells being one of the first sites studied.
"Sexual relations" argued ad nauseam, "fracking wells" or "wastewater wells"...
I don't care which side it comes from: I'm against obfuscation and propaganda.
I'm also reminded of a posting this morning about "Democrat or Republican truck"...
I feel like the description of the Democrat truck seat...
Hydraulic Fracturing can and is done without the earthquake concern.
Disposal of the used water after it is done, is a valid concern and needs to be handled properly.
But if burning old used tires creates creates carcinogenic fumes, it is lie to claim driving causes cancer.
While the tires wouldn’t get worn out without driving, that isn’t the only choice for the old tires.
Likewise, over-injection into disposal wells is not the only choice for handling used hydraulic fracturing fluid. Appropriate flow rates and volumes, as we have done for many decades, do not cause earthquakes. Recycling does not cause earthquakes.
Fracking's activities does cause earthquakes when performed with disregard for standards in the industry and when unknown faults are present.
As has been demonstrated repeatedly, scientists do not have a lock on terrestrial knowledge. Earthquakes regularly occur in areas of fracking, but the activity would be better served to at least stop denying the cause/effect because it makes the industry look complicit and feeds the anti-fracking enviro-nuts. The latter is what drives me nuts (besides the short-stroking denials).
I don't agree the industry should accept misrepresentation because the environMENTALists have made a false claim to make the industry look bad and the liberal media ran with it.
Driving doesn't cause cancer. Hydraulic Fracturing doesn't cause earthquakes.
Both disposal of tires and disposal of used hydro frac fluid needs to handled responsibly. Both have been recycled for other uses along with other proper methods of disposal.
I want to respond to this in more detail, and explain better why I believe the distinction is very important, not just a case of semantics.
EnvironMENTALists and liberal media uses stories like this, to push bad legislation that hurts all Americans. Crap like "Fracking causes earthquakes" get used to justify bans and excessive regulations on the actual hydraulic fracturing that have NOTHING to do with the cause of the feared earthquakes. The disposal, which is the real cause of concern is ignored. It does raise prices for fuel, it does promote more foreign imports, less jobs, more funding of our enemies.
It drives me nuts, that even when intelligent people understand it is a false claim, they let these liberals define the conversation and continue the deception, to push a damaging agenda.

I get your points...and concur...and care less about expending energy on semantics when we’re on the same side. Too busy, I am...
