The Civil Rights Movement metastasized from a largely patriotic and constitutionally based (at least publically) request for redress of grievances to a largely anti-american racially based industrial complex. There is much expressed bewilderment and anguish as to how this came to be.

I would submit that much of this anguished bewilderment results from a wide spread unwillingness to consider the leftist and outright marxist roots (cultural and otherwise) that generally influenced the civil rights movement and that role in what we are witnessing today.

The foremost icon of the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King was surrounded by known communists and regularly took their counsel. He wrote of his affinity for marxist principles in his book Stride toward Freedom, and accepted the notion of Hegalian Dialectics, a prepratory stage to accepting communism. He was a strident critic of the profit motive and capitalism and the US role in the Vietnam war. Just prior to his death he was all in for ever more statist socialist government programs and racially specific reparative edicts. This mantle was taken up by many in the Civil Rights and Black Nationalist movements as they allied and amalgamated with each other. Part of what shielded them from proper scrutiny was the apotheosis of King and the utilization of political correctness to erect guards against legitimate critique.

The forces that are animating much of the chaos in Fergueson have been emboldened by the leech-like attachment of the radical anti-american deconstructionists of EVERY important institution in this nation, that seek to destroy and supplant them with their own twisted brand of unconstitutional tyranny.

We conservatives MUST NOT fear to tell the truth about the gossamer myths that have improperly alloyed themselves to the genesis of the modern day civil rights movement.. We owe it to black people and the nation, even if the truth hurts or further inflames their discontent.

As with so many other issues, the right has surrendered the battleground to the left on Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Conservative commentators and politicians like to parrot his phrase about the content of character rather than the color of skin but by the end of his life it was becoming very clear, as you have so well articulated, that he was buying into Marxism and, rather then judging people individually, was seeing "Negro" rights as a collectivist or group phenomenon.

You are right about his communist connections. We have seen the danger of communism infiltrating African-Americans in Chicago which produced Frank Marshall Davis who mentored Obama. Frank Marshall Davis worked closely in communist front activities with Vernon Jarrett who would become Valerie Jarrett's father-in-law. He worked closely with Robert Taylor who was Valerie Jarrett's grandfather. Davis, Taylor and Jarrett also worked closely with the Cantor family who mentored David Axelrod.

We see the chokehold this African-American/communist axis has on the politics of Chicago and, by extension on the whole country. Much of that influence is exercised, not just in Ferguson, Missouri but throughout the country by the Attorney General, Eric holder, whose radical leftist leanings need no explication for readers of these threads.

More than 10 years ago I wrote this in my about page:

… the modern tendency to indulge certain taboos such as, Nazism, anti-Semitism, and the Holocaust, pedophilia, and, the most incendiary tripwire taboo of all, racism. These taboos have become weapons of the left in the war that is raging in America, a civil war waged against us by the left. I believe that the Democrat party in the extreme elements of it on the left have become increasingly philosophically bankrupt but the main prop of this empty vessel is the unshakable belief that they are superior to the right because we are racists. There are ways to react to this propaganda: the first is to cravenly succumb to it, which is the present practice of the modern Republican Party and it has been exemplified by the pathetic, interminable apologies of Trent Lott and Senator Allen. The second is to brazen a situation out as exemplified by the post gaffe performances of senators Byrd and Dowd. A third way, Nathan Bedford Forrest's way, is to declare, "damn your eyes, here I stand."

If anything the left has become more proficient and has had increasing success playing the race card. As I noted, "The last refuge for scoundrels of the left is to play the race card." But the situation has deteriorated with the merger of the left with radical Marxism and African-Americans. If they succeed in seducing Latin Americans, the cumulative effect will be devastating. In the same vein, we are now witnessing the Democrat party, much of it already in bed with communists, inextricably committed to African-American politics, flirting with Islamicists. These are toxic combinations.

It is worth observing that the mindlessness of the Arab Street, it's weakness for conspiracy theory, it's rejection of science and the values of the Enlightenment, it's adherence to superstition, it's willful wrongheadedness are eerily similar to the psychological and philosophical pathologies rampant in the American ghetto. They are all easy prey for the communist siren.
