Sarah Palin Reportedly Donates Only 5.5% of PAC Money to Actual Candidates
Mediaite ^ | October 20th, 2014 | Tina Nguyen

Sarah Palin‘s PAC is extremely stingy when it comes to donating money to her fellow Republicans: a report from Open Secrets reveals that since the 2014 two-year election cycle began, her PAC has raised a total of $2.7 million dollars, but only donated $150,000 of that money to actual candidates, a donation rate of 5.5%.

This year was even worse: according to SarahPAC’s third quarter filings this year, they had $1.4 million cash in hand, but only donated $45,000 to nine Congressional candidates — about 3% — between July 1st and September 30th. What did they spend the rest on?

Many of the same consultants she has used all along — for speechwriting, fundraising, logistics and research. There’s even someone paid to consult on “coalitions.” Travel, presumably for Palin, is part of the equation; a PAC like this is useful for keeping a high profile nationally without having to pay those pesky airline and hotel tabs out of personal funds. And the PAC sent $10,885 to HarperCollins — publisher of all three of Palin’s books — for “books for donor fulfillment.” That wasn’t the only book purchase by the committee: A lump sum of $13,000 was listed as being spent for “lodging, SUV rental, books for donors.”

According to OpenSecrets, Palin’s PAC is notoriously “parsimonious,” noting that “of the 417 leadership PACs that made at least one contribution in that cycle, SarahPAC was one of only 19 to give less than 10 percent of its total expenditures to candidates, other PACs or party committees.”

They also note that many of the candidates she’s donated to in this quarter are either extremely long shots or no longer in the running. For instance, she donated $5,000 to Joe Miller, a Tea Party candidate who attempted to run for the US Senate seat held by Democrat Mark Begich. “Miller lost to Dan Sullivan in the GOP primary, but Palin has not seen fit to donate to the Republican nominee, who is locked in nearly a dead heat with Begich,” Open Secrets observed, and added that Palin herself has only donated $628 to a federal candidate in her entire life.

SarahPAC has yet to publicly comment on the story.

“Lots of flack directed toward Alaska lately.
Wonder what’s up?”

I bet the RINOs are behind it. I would start with Karl Rove.

Well why would you want to donate money to liberals in disguise?

Makes you wonder if she’s planning on running against Slick Willie’s wife in ‘16. Hmmmm.

The person wanting to run for the Gop_e is clearing out all

of his hurdles in the roadway. They are piling on.

It’s easy for them to do with the rino republicans anyway.

My thoughts exactly! When there’s someone worth donating to, she and we will donate.

Still with ya, Palin!

I use to donate much to the RNC. It’s been awhile since I have donated to them. Now, I donate to specific candidates only. They continue to call me asking for money. The last call was from a man who was so desperate, for a donation, that he began to argue with me that no one would support a conservative so we must support someone in the middle. The Gop-e is being ruin by this logic. It’s bad enough for the enemies on the inside but you cannot let the enemies get in. Though, it is almost too late, isn’t it.

We know that Clinton is active right now, all the dirt being leaked in preparation for 2016.

I wonder if her little minions are digging up dirt to tarnish others in preparation for 2016.

There is only one way to elect politicians who actually represent the American people and do not represent special interests. And to eliminate fake-scandals like this one. Let's change the campaign finance laws to:

Only those individuals who can vote for a candidate are allowed to donate to that candidate.

Is this the only thing the news can conjure up a week before the election?

Let’s see, if I had to choose between a $5,000 donation from Sarah’s PAC or Sarah Palin spending $5000 from the PAC to actually come to one of my events and endorse me in person .... which would I choose?

If I’m smart I’m saying “Sarah Palin, come on down!!”.

I speculate saving the money for 2016. Since it appears that the Senate will flip in 2014, holding on till 2016 to defend any TEA party or GOP candidate that may be challenged might be a good idea.

Exactly.

I must admit I’m ignorant of PAC finances and how they are handled. It would be interesting to see corresponding numbers for the Clintons and Clinton allies, to get an idea how this normally works.

To say Sarah spends only “X” percent in this way or that, is meaningless unless you know what the norms or expectations of spending by these PACS normally are.

Open secrets uses public records and they are very reliable. They are probably right donate directly to the candidate of your choice and avoid a middle man.

If true it sounds to me like she has a nice slush fund for her personal promotion, and she donates just enough to maintain the fiction that it's a PAC.

Of course the Sarah sycophants will deny all.

Oh, they are just trying to remind voters why they should hate Republicans. It’s like dragging out Nixon before every election. Remember how they used to do that? Nixon was too long ago, so now Sarah Palin is the Republican that Democrats love to hate, but none of them can really tell you why.
