Exactly. If a public school taught about Christianity, you can bet your bottom dollar that they wouldn’t leave out the inquisition. These days, that would be all they taught Christianity to be.
If it is like the comparative religion courses my kids took ( in A very jewish community in MA) just a few years ago, it was descriptive in nature. It did not discuss what the idiots DID in the name of their God. And that was applied across the board.
Again, the parent might have wanted to review the course before their child took it.
