Just weeks after three women passed a rigorous day-long test qualifying them to potentially lead US Marine infantrymen for the first time in history, news came that all three women have been asked to leave the course.
They were physically disqualified from the training last week for falling behind in hikes while carrying loads of upwards of 100 pounds, says Maj. George Flynn, director of the Infantry Officers Course (IOC) at Quantico, Va.

men get cut from the course all the time. i bet hundreds of men have been cut the past several decades. can we declare a war on men now? three women get cut and it’s a war on women?
tell that to the generals at the top. thqt might be a good retirement criteria. i’d rather have patton-type generals than obese old men and women.
woman are actually more equal insociety than men are. i would prefer to drop them as a special protected class as well as all other protected classes and have everyone truly equal under the exact same laws.
God bless women like you.
And i don’t want a countryn where the “wife” is named Renaldo.
And where wife is replaced with spouse2.
And where some women look like men, dress like men, and cuss worse than most dirtball men do.
not sure i could do that anymore, not 100 yards.
you aren’t factoring in the fact there were far fewer marines than navy sailors to begin with.
they just break out in a sweat throwing away the latest first lady’s unhappy meal.
female waif - don’t forget waif.
God wanted to make sure you lived so you could tell that story! :-)
taking punches drains your energy. throwing punches drains energy. hauling ass to get away drains energy. movies are incredibly fake.
i think twenty years is probably stretching it. fifteen maybe if that body is used a lot. and not prematurely ended.
Thanks for your excellent observation. And, if anyone did that math, there might be some significant point. But.
I am not factoring in anything. As a squid myself, and who admittedly did not ever see any combat, I’m just defending my service against a beloved jarhead’s mistaken comment about one service knowing more about combat, and presumably dying, than another. That’s simply not true.
The numbers speak for themselves.
The gent I was responding to says he was a combat marine. Assuming that is so I have nothing but the greatest respect for him and all marines. A bunch of us (squids and jarheads) partied one night in Sasebo in 1971 and dozens of us ended up in jail. Basically it was fleet marines and sailors vs base marines and sailors.
........I know I couldn’t. And, even back then I couldn’t have carried him for miles. I guess though if you had 20 divisions of Chinese on your tail you might become super man!
I wouldn’t have traded it for the world.
Bingo! We have a winner!
Those were the days.
Maybe a male Marine can carry them on their shoulders.
Absolutely right...
I’m talking about the women who are joining or attempting to joing up for this...they typically aren’t the bowling balls I see walking around some bases...and I swear, I can’t believe that their “appearance” is anywhere near acceptable.
Given the choice, I'd prefer higher standards, not lower; more capable, not less.
Anything else is social engineering, of which we've had quite enough.
