Is it REALLY a secret in the “black community”?
I thought everybody knew that.
It’s an open secret. No one has the guts to acknowledge the ghetto crab bucket and risk being called a racist or Uncle Tom. Look at the crap Bill Cosby got.
The adulation shown to thugs and outright antisocial criminals within the black community has never been a secret. It is a way of shoving it in “Whitey’s” eye, and expressing rebellion and skepticism about motives of white people, or even any non-black people, everywhere.
Granted, not all, not even a very large proportion, of persons of African origin have this opinion. But then, in an analogous situation, just because there are a “few” Islamic jihadist militants among the total population of Muslims throughout the world, are all Muslims everywhere “evil”? No thinking person, or even a person of modest acquaintance with anything to do with Islam, would say or even believe that.
But those who would believe in the widespread prevalence of racial or religious hatred are quick to jump on this correlation, and leap to the erroneous conclusion that results in a totally wrong stereotype. There are the vast number of any group who do NOT fit the stereotypes assigned to them, yet they never get a hearing in the arena of public discourse.
Critical thinking is an art that is too little valued or even taught in all corners of society today. Broad lawns or narrow alleys, fixed ideologies proliferate everywhere. Education was supposed to alleviate this moral darkness, but the indoctrination which has substituted for enlightenment has effectively nullified this advantage which should have been extended to all.
You’re right. It’s common knowledge among blacks and whites.
