Ever notice that Republicans who lost their presidential races are no different from actual Democrat ex-Presidents? They hog the spotlight, still think they're president, and think what they say will carry weight.

Unnecessarily harsh? Mitt's enjoying the attention now, but he hasn't constantly sought the spotlight.

Putting up with the "elder statesman" thing is a small price for us to pay if Mitt actually keeps his word and doesn't run.

Politicians like Dukakis or Mondale who just disappear are the exception in politics. Maybe that's the one thing they got right.
