I don’t know hockey but I know the name.

There’s even been serious talk about naming the planned bridge over the Detroit river the “Gordie Howe International Trade crossing Bridge”.

That would be a fitting tribute - Gordie is Canadian. Howe’s name and nickname, “Mr. Hockey”, as well as his late wife’s nickname as “Mrs. Hockey”, are registered trademarks.

sounds like an embolic stroke with global aphasia. My mom had the same thing.

Prayers for one of Hockey’s greats!

Get well, Gordie! (I should at least be able to spell his name correctly).

Its a better name than the one they're currently using for the project. I could see it being shortened to the Gordy Howe bridge.

Story from today.

“Believe me, if you can avoid having a hole drilled in your skull by a trephine, I’d recommend it,” he quips.) He received so many slashes to his wrists that he couldn’t grip a golf club in retirement. Yet in one 20-year span with the Wings he missed only 30 games.

I didn’t know he was still around. Gordie is as old as my Dad, probably just as stubborn too. He is a national treasure for Canada, and a regional one for the Detroit/ Windsor area. I recall hearing about him playing at the Cobo Hall, in downtown Detroit.

New International Trade Crossing (NITC).

Is that the name of the bridge?

One of the last great athletes that has survived into the 21st Century. Truly a living Icon of any sport.

I don’t think they’ve settled on an official name yet.

I think the Gordie Howe international trade crossing would be fine and the locals would shorten it to the Gordie Howe bridge.

I saw him play at the Olympia many times on the famous Production Line - Abel, Lindsay and Howe in the 1950s.

I had a stroke that affected my right side-——corner of mouth and hand.

Not a serious one,obviously.

Well he certainly generated a lot of international trade during all those years playing for the Wings. The Gordie Howe Bridge sounds just fine.

Gordie Howe hat trick: a goal, an assist, and a fight. He was terrific.

A great one and a legend- saw him play a number of times Vs the Rangers in the old garden- during what I consider the golden age of hockey- six teams, no helmets and no dopey tv
time outs.

Prayers up for the family and Gordie - give them strength
Lord to care for him.
