My first grader had his first trouble with Common Core lunacy today. I will use the hardest problem from his homework as an example.

9+9=

Break up one of those nines such that you have another number that when added to nine makes ten. A first grader who has not memorized addition facts then has to think of all the ways you can add two numbers to get nine.

(8+1)+9=

Now regroup

8+(1+9)=

8+10=18

Do you know how difficult this is to teach a six year old who is learning addition facts? I wish I had a photo I could post of the lesson. It is worse than what I have written out. It uses pictures and does not use parentheses. The pictures make it more confusing. I tried using objects for counting and regrouping. It didn’t help because you have to use subtraction in order to answer a simple addition problem.

This was homework. There were about ten problems which required algebraic thinking from a first grader. My son scribbled on the page, erased the scribbles, wrote the wrong answer, erased it, scribbled, threw his pencil, put his head in my lap, erased his scribbles, etc. until we eventually completed his first grade algebra homework. He was so happy to write his spelling words over and over again. Why do they want children to hate math??? I cannot imagine other parents being able to teach this nonsense to their children.

I’m 100% with you on this. My favorite subject has always been math and I excelled at it at all levels. My daughters 12 and 9 also love it...HOWEVER whoever the Alice in wonderland shroom junkie was that developed this utter garbage should have their mind scrambled with and ice pic then fed to the dogs fast enough they can still witness it...Ok that was a bit harsh...but I agree this is not math...is junk science like global warming.

That is unbelievable. Talk about putting up road blocks to logic and learning.

Because Math is the Last thing which can actually make children Logical and use Reason as adults. They ruined English, Wisdom, Virtue and writing and spelling and Rhetoric decades ago-—and have children hating to read by 6th or 7th grade to keep them dumb for Life.

Math (which they tried to dumb down but parents and teachers didn’t allow the total collapse of Logic and Reason in New Math) still kept a few smart enough to pull themselves out of the mire and understand Truth or maybe get them interested in some worthwhile pursuits which would lead to gaining Knowledge and see through the brainwashing white noise.

They need the children so dumb they will believe that Snow is Black. Fichte explained how to destroy Free Will and condition children so they become “happy slaves” in 1810 or so using psychology.

When Math is totally confusing, then the children will be totally lost since English is sabotaged also....and they will know they are dumb and ignorant....that is what is being programmed into your child’s head.....”math is too hard and I am dumb”.

They are also sexualizing your child (with Common Core), to destroy innocence and injecting an anti-Christian worldview. It will flip their worldview from Christian Ethics which formed the USA and Individualism and Natural Rights-—to a collectivization and pagan, Satanic (muslim) unnatural worldview-—where sodomy and polygamy and pederasty are “normal” and ‘good”.

For collectives-—they have to destroy God and Individualism and Virtue in children-—and make them believe they are dumb.

Get your child OUT of public school.

Even with that method, it makes more sense to treat a 9 as (10 - 1) than to treat it as (8 + 1).

9 + 10 = 19
19 - 1 = 18

My experience with third grade arithmetic is similar. The teach assigns no more than 10 problems and has said "it should not take more than 15 minutes" but I spend up to an hour with my daughter on it. First, it's insanely complex. I've taught her how to do basic addition and subtraction the traditional way but if you don't do it in their convoluted, impossible to grasp way, you fail. Their justification: it's not about "answer getting", it's about method. And if you get the right answer using a different (i.e. normal) method, you are wrong. So they force her to count on her fingers and make marks on the paper and stupid nonsense like that.

I've found that their twisted logic is confusing her such that the traditional way is getting harder for her the more she learns common core. What was easy before is now confusing to her because they've so fogged her mind with their nonsense. It's got to go. I just have to figure out how I'm going to tackle it because I can't sit back and let this crap steal a generation of Americans. But I have to do something.
