Hillary Clinton recalls Mary Landrieu's leadership post-Katrina at New Orleans rally

Former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton said she learned all she needed to know about Sen. Mary Landrieu by watching her work to get funding for New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Clinton recalled she and Landrieu's experience in the U.S. Senate together during a get-out-the-vote rally at the Sugar Mill in New Orleans on Saturday. She touted Landrieu's leadership and how she prioritized Louisiana's women and families while urging the crowd to vote Tuesday.

Clinton and Landrieu served in the Senate together from 2001-2009. Clinton said her greatest memories of Landrieu came in the aftermath of Katrina. She remembered Landrieu on the Senate floor demanding the federal government come to New Orleans' aid, a moment Clinton likened to her own experience representing New York following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Clinton also criticized Landrieu's main Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy, for his vote against the Violence Against Women Act.

"I cannot begin to understand how someone can vote against a law protecting women from domestic abuse, but Mary's opponent has done just that," Clinton said.

Cassidy has said he voted against the bill because it went too far. He voted in favor of a GOP alternative bill that removed language related to gender identity and sexual identification, among other provisions.

Clinton is widely expected to run for president in 2016. Though she didn't call him by name, Clinton criticized a potential opponent, Gov. Bobby Jindal, for the steep cuts in higher education in Louisiana.

"Hi voters. I managed to unglue my lips from Obama's
*** to be here. That's why my mouth looks so funny."

========================================================

Voters are very forgiving---but it's almost impossible to forgive a candidate who fails to recognize the impact of his/her words.

In the Chuck Todd interview Landrieu trashed Louisianans---dismissing them as nothing more than hapless "conservatives." Landrieu added: “It has not always been a good place for women, to be able to present ourselves as the leaders we are. It’s more of a conservative place. So we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that”.......meaning she had to dupe a lot of good people to get herself elected.

Odd isn't it----when Landrieu was elected and reelected multiple times---there was no racism or sexism in Louisiana. Now that she appears to be losing Landrieu suddenly discovers sexism and racism in every corner of Louisiana.

Another FReeper likened Landrieu's goofball rhetoric to California candidate---then-incumbent Gov Pat Brown---- inexplicably telling a Black audience, "Remember, an actor shot Lincoln."

Brown's opponent was Ronald Reagan who went on to win the governership by a million votes.

=========================================

CONCLUSION It's hard to say if Landrieu's desperate and deplorable tactics---vilifying and slandering her own voters--- will be enough to win her another unexpected victory in Louisiana....but she knows every trick in the book.

In 2002, Landrieu was forced into a run-off. She was under-funded and labeled the underdog. So she and her Democrat operatives mined every ghetto, housing project, crack house, ho house and Nursing Home in New Orleans for votes.....she won by a hair.

HILLARY'S IN LOUISIANA?---THAT MEANS LANDRIEU IS SHOVEL-READY It's always good news when a Clinton comes in to flack a Democrat---it usually means the desperate candidate is in the death throes.

A Clinton visit usually finishes him/her off.

By getting post-Katrina funding, I presume Mrs. Willie means robbing the U.S. treasury. Nagin is in jail, the least we can do is give Landrieu the boot. Mrs. Slick Willie can go and hug her on visitation days.

Then maybe she should recall the truth that Landrieu was the reason FEMA was not allowed into the state NOT BUSH. FEMA was sitting at the border waiting to be allowed in to help but Landrieu wanted an agreement the federal program would be under her control before being allowed in and of course the media covered that part up and blamed Bush for something he could do nothing about....disgusting.

The Katrina FEMA disaster was all Landrieu not Bush.

Thank you for the information about Landrieu and FEMA.
I was not aware about her role in delaying FEMA providing aid. You are also spot on-that would never ever be reported in the media.

Did you ever notice the conservative women politicians as a rule are hot and liberals tend to be porkers, super porkers and worse.

How many times did Shrillary’s “you know” tic appear in her speech? Time to start counting and ridicule the hell out of it. It’s obvious she can’t stop doing it. “You know” is what prevented equally qualified Caroline Kennedy from running for office, you know?

Then maybe she should recall the truth that Landrieu was the reason FEMA was not allowed into the state NOT BUSH.

It was even worse than that.

I saw a live press conference in which she was complaining about Bush doing nothing.

A reporter informed her that it was she who had to ask for the federal help, and that none could be sent without her asking.

For a few seconds she had a real "deer in the headlights" look.

I remembered that clearly, as I thought, this was the last time we would ever see that video, it would be buried by the media.

That was on Liberal Bizarro World.

Here on earth the only thing she did was point a finger at George Bush.

Really? As I recall, she sat on her fat a$$ for the days leading up to Katrina and did nothing to help evacuate people from NO. She's an idiot and the people of LA deserve better...at least someone who's not brain dead.
