In my comment on Orthodox Jews, I was trying to distinguish between Orthodox and non-Orthodox, and secular was the first word that came to mind.

In general usage, a secular Jew is someone who identifies with the Jewish people as an ethnic group, but who might not be especially religious, or who might not be committed to the Jewish faith at all.

A secular Jew is at times a rabid progressive America hating bigoted against Christians or thinks Netanyahu is a bully or otherwise undesirable Jew that reasonable Jews disown as not a Jew

I think they are people with some Jewish heritage but are largely agnostic and materialistic.

Perhaps they hit the temple when there’s a funeral or such.
