Tell me one reason why they would be considered “more libertarian” than conservative, and why they would not be mostly a mainstream Reagan conservative?

The bulk of their philanthropy is nonpolitical (arts, education). One of them founded CATO which is about as pure libertarian as you can get. I would say their main focus is free markets, small government, but you can’t ignore the fact that they are pro legalization and pro gay marriage.
