A grown man beating a child is a sad and outrageous thing - but more than many people, especially the man-haters, want to acknowledge is the fact that the child's mother often condones and even encourages the beatings, and that's ten time more sad and outrageous.....
That is a sad story; I hope the little guy has since found some happiness. Too many of these children are bred for cash/freebies (both from the state and the daddy), or because a woman thinks it will bring stability (maybe even marriage) to a shaky relationship - and it rarely works out that way.
This story from Pa. is unusual because normally in cases of baboon infanticide the alpha male kills the children of the former alpha male for sexual attention from the female (she won’t be in heat while caring for a baby). The females know this will happen, and take steps to protect their children, but normally within a few days the young from the former alpha are all dead. The mother herself plays no role in the killing, and in fact knows it is coming; the male gets to them when she suffers momentarily lapses in attention (very disturbing to watch; I’ve seen films of this).
I know the perps are white; the baboon infanticide is becoming increasingly common across racial lines.
