Since Harry Reid got rid of the filibuster for presidential nominees, can anything be done to stop this from being forced through during the lame duck session?
Probably not.....but look for him to ram through a rules-reversal just at the end of the year.
Time.
They have a lot to do, and she is required to have a hearing. One of Reid’s aids has said that she won’t be confirmed in the lame duck
I honestly don’t know but have a hunch not, unless a Senator can put a hold on a nominee and lengthen the process.
In the exit poll Judicial Watch analyzed, some 70% of Americans - and over 50% of Hispanics and Blacks - approve of VoterID.
Cruz, Lee et.al. need to hammer home that she believes VoterID is racist.
Today, while Americans are still listening and not caught up in holiday planning and stuff.
No
Nevertheless, come January 3rd, the party is over for the communist Democrat Party in Congress and their comrade in the WH.
I think Reid’s nuclear option was aimed at DC Circuit Judges and not cabinet appointments so yes I think Cruz & Lee can filibuster her appointment.
My understanding is that the GOP can do procedural bullshit like extra roll calls and votes to bring the process to a crawl. The problem with that is that it's good publicity for Obama claiming obstruction (which it would be, if deserved), and that the Dems can play that game the other way come January.
They have to be careful that the Repubs don't pay them back in spades for how they ran the Senate into the ground....
