Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, in again throwing previous Republican presidential nominees Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney under the bus of his own White House ambitions, needs to brush up on his political history.
The freshman senator took occasion on CNN the other day to dismiss growing talk of a 2016 presidential bid of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by tossing Bush under the wheels along with that trio of losing party standard-bearers, as a means of advancing his own Oval Office fantasies.
After insisting he is a fan of the son of the 41st president and brother of the 43rd, Cruz lectured the party, We need to learn from history. The required lesson, he said, is to recall what works and what doesnt. And the one thing is clear is if Republicans run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day.
With all the sincerity of a snake-oil salesman, Cruz interjected the mandatory disclaimer, Let me be clear, all three of those are good honest men, decent men, they are patriots. But, he continued, If we run another candidate like that, Hillary Clinton will be president.
It wasnt the first time Cruz had revved up his smarmy bus of condescension and rolled it over the trio of presidential nominees chosen by prior GOP conventions to represent the party, in almost exactly the same words.
At last springs Conservative Political Action Committee conference, Cruz added expansively that if the Republicans again travel down this road, we risk doing irreparable damage to the greatest nation in the history of the world.(continued)

Go Ted!
Witcover is leading the charge for Bishop RomneyCARE,
who feels he has not done enough damage, yet.
I am lovin’ it. LOL
If it was on CNN only a couple people saw it anyway.
Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney have one important thing in common-they are all losers.
Ted Cruz is smart enough to realize why they lost and will hopefully not repeat their mistakes.
If that means “throwing them under the bus” so be it.
Someone’s cornflakes got pissed on.
Nah, the three guys listed in the first sentence of this nonsense threw themselves under the bus.
If those 3 don’t know why they lost, they never deserved to win.
G.O.P.e.:
Proverbs 23:
35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
The other guys? Not so much.
Are Witcover and Steve Schmidt friends?
Sister-wife contenders for Mr. RomneyCARE.
Ted would do well to force more wit and charm into his public persona.
The media will only let ability and sincerity take one so far in politics...
Heck, how he could get his wit and charm through the media’s profit-driven hostility is past me. He’s a very capable fellow though.
Chris Christie won both a hot dog and pie eating contest.
Jules is clueless about what the phrase “under the bus” means.
How do such ignoramuses get into print?
Really..... then this guy needs to prepare for some Sarahshot.
That’s what I’m keeping my eyes open for: who Steve Schmidt’s new circle is going to be.
Wow! Still going wrong at 87.
With all the sincerity of a snake-oil salesman.” This sentence threw me. The rest of the article is fine, but cannot tell if is in favor of Cruz.
